As part of efforts to strengthen digital integration in Central Africa, the Telecommunications Regulatory Board (ART) welcomed a high-level delegation from Chad’s electronic communications authority ARCEP, led by its Director General Haliki Choua Mahamat, on May 15, 2025. This meeting followed discussions between the telecommunications ministers of Cameroon and Chad the previous day, central to advancing the vital subregional interconnection initiative on the CEMAC digital agenda.
The welcome ceremony at the Immeuble Platinum brought together prominent officials, including ART’s Board Chair Prof. Justine Diffo née Tchunkam, ARCEP’s DG Haliki Choua Mahamat, and representatives from relevant ministries and local telecom operators. In her welcome address, Prof. Diffo emphasized the strategic value of regulatory cooperation and the shared regional goal of accelerated digital integration, especially in tackling the challenges of community roaming and spectrum management. ARCEP’s DG highlighted the warm reception by ART and underlined the importance of continued synergy to support digital transformation in both Cameroon and Chad.
Technical sessions, supervised by ART’s Deputy Director General Zourmba Aboubakar, focused on key issues such as subregional roaming, spectrum management at borders, and radio frequency security. This collaborative visit marks a significant step toward more efficient, harmonized regulation and deeper digital connectivity for the CEMAC region.
